About.com en español

Okay, where have I been and why haven’t I noticed this before? As I was scrolling through the Teaching & Learning Spanish Facebook page, (yes, shameless plug, but turning out to be a great resource) I ran across a post on mamalatina.about.com. I paused and thought, wait a minute, about.com in SPANISH! So, I clicked on the About.com en español link at the top of the page, sat back in my chair and thought how cool is this!

aboutcomspanish

The menu at the top lists the following topics: Autos, Casa, Cocina y recetas, Cultura, Deportes y actividades, Educación, Familia y more. (Hmm… shouldn’t that say más?) Either hover over the menu at the top or scroll down to view the subcategories.

Needless to say, this is a great resource for learning everyday Spanish. I can’t wait to dive in!

Hello my name is Jennifer Carroll and I teach Spanish in Cheyenne, Wyoming. For my Master's degree course I will soon be making my own blog and I have to say that your blog is an inspiration. I am a newcomer to blogging and I appreciate seeing what a blog can truly become.
In relation to this post as I perused your links I noticed that you did not have a link to Quia. I am not sure if you are aware of this resource as well. It is not quite as easy to maneuver as About.com however it does have a lot of interactive games about basic Spanish concepts that reinforce fundamental learning for all ages. And who can resist ready-made online interactive games like battleship and concentration? This website does have a subscription but I have always used the free resources and I have found them very helpful for my students. Here is the link in case you are interested in looking at the resources Quia offers: http://www.quia.com/shared/spanish/. I hope this idea can contribute to your already very helpful blog!

This is a great find! I've read About.com a lot to learn different topics, but had no idea they had Spanish content. They produce quality stuff; About is actually owned by the NYTimes Company and I know they have pretty thorough requirements for their topic guides.
